The Farnesina villa (or villa of the Farnesina) is a historical building in Rome of the Sienese banker Agostino Chigi.

It is located on Via della Lungara, in the Trastevere district, in Town Hall I and is one of the buildings representing the Renaissance architecture of the early sixteenth century. Designed by Baldassarre Peruzzi was the prototype of the Roman suburban villa and its realization made remarkable resonance, also because since 1511 completed the masonry, the residence was frescoed according to an extraordinary iconographic program entrusted to the greatest artists of the period: Peruzzi himself, Sebastiano del Piombo, Raffaello Sanzio and his school (including Giulio Romano) and Il Sodoma (wikipedia)

In the sixteenth century the Villa was surrounded by a wonderful viridarium whose composition was harmoniously connected with the same architectural forms of the villa through the two lateral facades of the facade of the building, with the festive floral decorations of the Loggia di Amore e Psyche.
After careful restoration work, tree-woods have settled in the eight-twentieth century.
A small collection of archaeological finds, sarcophagi, capitals and statues used as decorative elements contributes to witnessing the ancient opulence of a surprisingly pleasant atmosphere in the heart of Trastevere.
We will explore this wonderful garden to admire its beauty and retrace its history.
